Privacy Policy: Your Documents Never Leave Your Device
At PDF Bender, your privacy is not just a policy—it is the foundational engineering principle of our application.
1. The Zero-Storage Guarantee
Unlike traditional online PDF editors that transmit files across the internet to cloud-based converting servers, PDF Bender utilizes WebAssembly (Wasm) and HTML5 Canvas engines to parse, render, edit, and compile PDF documents strictly within your web browser.
At no point during your session does your PDF document, text content, image attachments, or electronic signatures touch our web servers or any third-party infrastructure.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Document Files: We do not collect, view, copy, or retain any PDF or image files you open in the editor.
- Document Content & Text: We do not extract, read, analyze, or train machine learning models on your documents.
- Signatures: Any signature drawn, typed, or uploaded is created entirely inside your local canvas and is merged directly into your local vector file.
- User Profiles & Passwords: PDF Bender does not require an account or registration. No personal identifying information (PII) is requested or stored.
3. Local Browser Storage & IndexedDB
To provide a seamless editing experience and prevent accidental data loss if you refresh your browser tab, PDF Bender utilizes your device's local web storage APIs:
- IndexedDB: Temporarily holds your active PDF buffer in your local browser sandbox so you can edit large files (up to 500 MB) smoothly.
- localStorage: Stores your user preferences, such as Dark Mode settings and active editing tools.
This data exists exclusively on your physical machine. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser cache or clicking "Reset" in your browser settings.
4. Analytics and Technical Diagnostics
To maintain reliability and optimize page load speeds, we may collect aggregated, non-personally identifiable technical telemetry (e.g., browser type, screen resolution, operating system, and general page performance timings). This telemetry never contains document payloads, file names, or user content.
5. Compliance with Global Privacy Frameworks
Because PDF Bender does not process or transmit personal document data to remote servers, our tool is inherently compliant with leading international privacy and data protection standards:
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): No personal data is transferred to third parties or processed outside the user's direct jurisdiction.
- California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA): We do not sell, share, or monetize user data.
- HIPAA & Legal Compliance: Because documents remain on your local device, healthcare providers, lawyers, and financial institutions can safely redact and edit documents without violating confidentiality regulations.
6. Third-Party Links & External Services
Our website may contain links to external resources or documentation. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites and encourage users to review their respective privacy notices.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect technological improvements or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date".
